A place of inspiration, introduction of new missionaries, honoring departing missionaries, hard talks from the president, the housing missionary couple, and the vehicle missionary couple, trainings, special music, great food, fun and comradery. We will attend all of these. We love getting to know the elders, sisters, and other senior couples. They are held every 6 weeks in 2 different zones. One is on Tuesday and one is on Thursday. Each one goes from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
This is the Haka, a New Zealand ceremonial dance that is traditional at Zone conferences here to send off the departing missionaries. It is also a huge tradition to honor departing missionaries with candy leis. I saw a lot of these at the high school graduation of my grandchildren in the US. Some of them were made out of money however. What fun! The sisters had so many leis, they shared some of them with us. Now we have a candy jar at home!
